Website Audit — User Guide

The Website Audit tool fetches any public URL and runs a comprehensive suite of 30+ heuristic checks spanning SEO, Security & Best Practices, Accessibility, and Performance. Every issue detected includes an Actionable Fix Recommendation with clear impact levels (High, Medium, Low).

Key Features

1. 30+ Deep Audit Checks Suite

Checks are categorized across four standard web quality categories:

  • SEO: Title tag length (10-60 chars), meta description length (50-160 chars), canonical URLs, single H1 heading hierarchy, Open Graph (og:title, og:image, og:description), Twitter Card tags, JSON-LD structured data, robots indexability (noindex check), hreflang language tags, and mixed HTTP/HTTPS links.
  • Best Practices & Security: HTTPS protocol enforcement, HSTS (Strict-Transport-Security), Content-Security-Policy (CSP), Clickjacking defense (X-Frame-Options / frame-ancestors), MIME sniffing protection (X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff), Referrer Policy, HTML5 doctype, UTF-8 charset meta, favicon presence, and Brotli/Gzip text compression.
  • Accessibility: HTML lang attribute, image alt text coverage, responsive viewport meta, pinch-to-zoom accessibility (user-scalable=no warning), HTML5 landmark regions (<main>, <nav>, <header>, <footer>), and form field labeling.
  • Performance: Server response time (TTFB < 500ms), HTML document payload size (< 100 KB), script tag density, resource hints (preconnect / dns-prefetch), native image lazy loading (loading="lazy"), and inline CSS sizes.

2. Actionable Fix Recommendations & Impact Levels

Every failed check (fail) or warning (warn) includes:

  • Impact Level Badge: High Impact, Medium Impact, or Low Impact indicating priority.
  • Actionable Fix Recommendation: Plain-English instructions detailing how webmasters and developers can fix the code or server header.

3. Google PageSpeed Insights (Lighthouse Integration)

  • Optional live Lighthouse analysis running via Google PageSpeed Insights.
  • Toggle between Mobile and Desktop audit strategies.
  • Displays Core Web Vitals breakdown:
    • LCP (Largest Contentful Paint)
    • CLS (Cumulative Layout Shift)
    • FCP (First Contentful Paint)
    • TBT (Total Blocking Time)
  • Overall Audit Score Ring: Visual 0-100 overall health score badge.
  • Category Filter Pills: Filter checks by category (SEO, Best Practices, Accessibility, Performance).
  • Status Filter Toolbar: Filter checks by Failed, Warnings, Passed, or Info.
  • Search Bar: Live search check titles, descriptions, and recommendations.
